It was Easter today and I started by making a flower crown headband. I don't really suit big over embellished flower crowns, so I thought it would be nice to make a more subtle version.
I cooked Tom some Easter egg pancakes for breakfast with a little Shredded Wheat in the batter which made them really crunchy.
Mum, Dad & Nana came over the afternoon and we'd hidden some eggs for them to hunt for. I think I'd hidden them a lot better than I realised because it took quite a while to get them all.
I'd adapted my Nana's chocolate nest recipe into a cake. It was a coconut and poppy seed sponge cake with clotted cream and jam in the middle with a nest cake topping and mini eggs.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous today and so hot, so we decided to pack up our picnic basket and head out on an adventure.
We ended up at the Harlaw Reservoir which was really pretty and found the perfect picnic spot under some trees next to the river.
Black Rose Gin sent us a couple of bottles so we packed one for our picnic. It tasted delicious with our salmon bagels and picnic snacks.
I'm still not sure what the point of rolling an egg down a hill on Easter is but we decided to decorate some eggs and give it a go this year for luck.
The sun was going down when we headed home but it stayed warm until the end. I'm sure we'll be back here for more picnics in the summer.
