It was my birthday today and Tom treated me to breakfast pastries and a glass of bubbly when I woke up.
He gave me my presents early, because some of them would be really useful during the day, including a Selfie Stick, wifi SD card, chocolates, champagne and lots of tasty Root Beer treats.
He was right to give me them early because I couldn't wait to try out the Selfie Stick.
Tom told me that he'd take me anywhere I wanted to go and my first choice was the zoo, but the pandas weren't going to be there, so we decided to go to the Deep Sea World instead.
We had an annual membership to visit here when I was younger and I don't think it had changed one bit in over a decade.
The tunnel was the best bit and we went around again and again looking up at the fish.
I loved the smiley faces of the stingrays from underneath.
We watched the seals swimming in their sanctuary and then got some squished pennies before heading home.

On the subject of sea life, the swans who live near us on the canal had six babies with them when we walked past. We were so happy because we've watched their nest come, without any eggs hatching, for a couple of years.
Back in the city, Tom treated me to a glass of birthday absinthe at a pop-up hipster bar in the mews behind the Meadows.

There was another surprise after dinner, when Tom told me to look in my wallet where he'd snuck some tickets for Katherine Ryan's show. I'd been whining about how she was sold out since the festival started, so I was really excited.
I was so excited to see a Happy Birthday tweet from her when I got home too.
