Today Tom and I went on a nostalgic and surreal to Portobello Beach. The town feels like it's stuck in the early 90's and is still bustling with gamblers, sun bathers and sightseers.
We found an amazing old sweet shop, which sells all kinds of sweets by the quarter and has still sells sweets from our childhood. They even had pic n’ mixes, where the sweets still cost a penny each. We bought a quarter of toasted tea cakes and jelly buttons before heading down to the beach.
We got a cone of chips to eat on the beach. Everything takes better in cones.
We gambled away our loose change in the Fun Park arcade and won big, before gambling our 2p winnings away again.
Afterwards we bought some Portobello rock, but left the shop to discover it was only Holiday Rock with a sticker saying Portobello Beach on the packaging - we got scammed!
I also managed to buy a mini water pistol from a corner shop. I want to fill it with vodka like Casey from Skins.
After our seaside adventure, we headed back in to Edinburgh to see Son of Rambo at the Cameo Cinema. We bumped in to Justin from design duo, Colin & Justin in the bar before the film.
After the film, we met up with Calum Leslie for drinks in the bar. I really want to go back to Portobello beach soon.
