We then went to a talk about brand identity at the Museum of Brands in Notting Hill. Can you work out the brands represented in the Museum logo? I’ve worked out the M is Cadbury’s the U is Oxo, the E is Coca Cola and the M in Hovis (though I might be wrong).
The talks were really interesting and one was about setting up a limited company, which we are looking in to becoming in the near future. After the talks, there was lots of yummy food (we need to stop having canapes for dinner) and we were sent to snoop around the museum.
It’s an amazing little museum. The owner has collected so many little things over the decades and put them on display. It’s a hoarder’s paradise. The chocolate bars we know and love today looked very different decades ago. The cereal boxes were also very cool.
The owner mentioned that everybody tends to squeal when they spot something from their childhood and give away their age. The thing I squealed at was a Spice Girls lollipop tin that my Nana had got me for Christmas when I was little – the owner walked past at that exact moment.
It’s interesting to see how the logos have changed throughout the years. At the end of the night we got to have a one on one session with a lawyer about domain names, which is something we’ve been meaning to do, so that was awesome and free!
