It was raining heavily as we were walking home when we noticed a new sushi restaurant next to the Cameo. Something about the steamed up windows and packed tables inside told us it would be good, so we decided to give it a try.
Because they had just opened, we were given a free bowl of edamame which was the best I've ever had, filled with spice and garlicy goodness.
We ordered some seared tuna, salmon panko and a sakura roll which was coated with pink rice.
The sushi was delicious but we couldn't help but notice all the other tables were having hot pots. We'll have to come back to try one someday soon.
Uncle Bruce had sent Dad some money to treat everyone to dinner as a late birthday present so we decided to go to the Sakura Tree and try a hot pot.
The hot pot is a bubbling hot broth which comes in two halves, one side is spicy and the other side is deadly spicy. You're then brought plate after plate of seafood, tofu, vegetables, noodles and meat (for my Dad) which you place in the broth and leave to cook for a few minutes before dipping in sauce and eating.
There was so much food on our table and if that wasn't enough, there was also an unlimited sushi buffet, so roll after roll of sushi kept arriving too. We were so full but really happy afterwards.
