Scotland Street Tunnel was being opened for one night only, so we headed along to take a peek inside. Everyone was gathered outside with their cameras and torches when we arrived.

It was cold inside and I couldn't believe how much the temperature dropped as soon as you entered the tunnel. Once the gate was opened, some people ran ahead and had disapeared in to the darkness when the guides shouted not to go too far

We had to step over lots of broken boards, twisted gates and rubble to make our way in to the tunnel. The path smoothed out after the initial entrance but there were lots of potholes and things dangling from the ceiling to watch out for, so I was glad we brought a torch.

A little later on, two shadowy figures appeared in the tunnel and they turned out to be Gary and Gemma. Together, we ventured in to the tunnel as far as we could until our shoes started to sink in to the mud. If we'd kept going, we would have ended up at Waverley Station.
